Custom ring tones are a great way to give your mobile phone some personal flair. Unfortunately, the wireless companies that manage your phone services don't make adding ring tones to your mobile a cheap or easy proposition. Wouldn't it be cool to turn your existing audio files into high-quality ring tones?
In the latest installment of Download DIY, you'll learn how to create professional-quality ring tones from your own MP3 files. While chopping MP3s into ring-tone-sized bites isn't particularly difficult, getting the ring tones on your phone is a different story. Two methods of transferring them are most effective. The first involves downloading them to your phone using its wireless Internet capabilities (WAP). The second method is to transfer them from your PC to your phone via a USB connection.
If you're not sure of your phone's capabilities, refer to your user manual, or visit CNET Reviews to find out more about your phone's specs. Search by carrier, manufacturer, features, or specific phone model. Once you've located the page for your phone, click the Specifications Tab.
